Hello Everyone!
I've been lobbying to support massage therapy as a covered benefit under Obama's new healthcare plan. My goal is for the plan to recognize massage therapy as a preventative measure in maintaining good health. If this is important to you, it would be great if you could take a moment to send our senators an email and a quick phone call asking them to support this as well!
The more voices that are heard the better our chances!!

 Ok tofu-phobics, it's time to broaden your horizons. Research shows real soy is a:
HEART DISEASE FIGHTER Eating 25 grams of real soy a day can help reduce your risk for heart disease.
BONE BOOSTER Women absorb calcium better from tofu made with calcium than from soy powders, and soy may also reduce bone loss.
Here's a yummylicious way to sneak tofu into your diet:
1 Banana
6 Strawberries, frozen or fresh
1 cup orange juice
1/2 cup tofu
shot o' honey
Blend until smooth
Serve this to someone who thinks they don't like tofu, then watch it disappear! My husband loves this one.

Bridgette Saves the Day!
Last Saturday we had a bride and her crew in to have their make up done with Alisha's Spa Euphoria and hair at Kimberly Peck's Salon. While the bride was having her make up done, she started getting anxious about the day ahead and broke out into a rash all over her chest and neck. Make up Artist, Bridgette Errich, acted quickly and applied Bioelements Immediate Comfort to the area. In no time, the rash cleared and her skin was glowing! Immediate Comfort is a 1% hydrocortisone cream that we use to calm and soothe skin during facial treatments and to reduce redness and itching after waxing. Thanks to Bridgette's quick action and beautiful make up application, our bride was looking and feeling ready for her big day.

 So we're all doing our part to make the world a better place, right? I think we're off to a great start!
Alisha's Spa Euphoria attended the International Esthetics, Cosmetics, and Spa Conference in New York City this past summer. One of the seminars I attended was about "Greening your spa". This trend of going green is so critical to our Earth, our well-being and our quality of life, I am happy to be a part of it. I feel it is one of the most important trends of our time. I hope that as the glitter of going green fades, our everyday choices we make are healthy and earth- friendly choices that come naturally. I have been an advocate for the earth as long as I can remember. My father was an Earth and Space science teacher, so things like recycling and reducing our water and energy consumption weren't a choice! It was an everyday practice. When green practices started buzzing everywhere I thought, "Wow, why did it take so long for this to become the right thing to do?" It's never too late to make a change for the better. Here are some of the green practices we've always had in place and some of the new practices I've learned from this seminar and elsewhere:
What we've always done:
- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle...Everything possible from water and energy consumption, to office paper, and all recyclables.
- Our massage tables are made from sustainable wood and are built to last a lifetime.
- Made contributions to support the Nature Conservancy, Environmental Defense Fund, World Wildlife Federation, Arbor Day Foundation, our local Police and Emergency Medical Service, and cancer research funds.
- Recyclable skin care packaging to earth-friendly vegetable/soy-based inks and paper,
Bioelements packaging helps deliver optimum product performance while
positively impacting the earth.
- We use products that are biodegradable,
Changes we've made:
- We order our essential oils from a local manufacturer, reducing the carbon output of delivery.
- We have switched our light bulbs to energy efficient types.
- We've switched our laundry detergents and cleaning agents to 100% natural, plant-based, non-toxic, biodegradable household cleaners.
- We've installed a hand dryer in the rest room to reduce the use of paper towels and the amount of waste they create.
- We've laminated our intake forms to significantly reduce our paper usage.
